Snow condition

It's been going downhill rapidly over the last few days. Daily loss the last 3 days approx. 10-15cm in the middle layers. Just skiable on the north side of the valley. Large patches of snow have already been lost, even at 1800m, especially where there was hardly any due to the wind. Again frequent contact with grass, stones and slush. Terrible for January. A week ago it at least looked like winter, now after the beginning of April with little to no foundation.

Snow quality

Totally soaked up to approx. 1900m. Large pools of water and puddles on the Hochgrat summit - in January! Absolute rotten snow, frequent breaking through to the meadow, stones, whatever.

Risks

Some sliding and wet snow slides have already started on the south side. Nothing suspicious seen on the north side (yet) - but it could also be critical here in this wetness in steeper areas. No old snow problem at this altitude.

Overall impression

Nice atmosphere but if it continues like this - and it looks like it will - it might be closing time here again by the weekend - at least for a long way up and for the time being.
