Balderschwang - auf Hokkaido?
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
There's enough snow in Balderschwang, there's nothing more to complain about. 4 stars only because there will be more to come and then there will be 5. (Critical voices might award 3...) Nowhere on the ground, trails snowed up to the top edge of the gate. Whoever breaks a ski there: congratulations!
Snow quality
Powder and nothing else, from top to bottom. Always bottomless despite touring fries. "Speed powder" alternates with "blower". No old tracks, no hardpack, no wind cover.
Risks
Level 3, in places more critical in my opinion! Many fish mouths also high up. Backs completely blown out in some places, which is frightening given the snow conditions. You can see snow-covered boards and fresh loose snow slides. Huge cornices and wind formations, all inconspicuously covered. We walked around a lot to find a suitable slope - but it was perfect. I had a very bad feeling about many of the slopes when I looked at the surroundings. During the day, there was always wind at the top with freighting force. I would still urge great caution!
Overall impression
I hardly dare say it, but that was 4 stars today. Wonderful snow, finally carefree skiing and nothing going on on the tour. What more could you want, apart from safer conditions (then it's 5...)? (The slopes in the area looked pretty dug up...)
