Snow report Oberstdorf, 02/10/2016
Afternoon ski tour from Gunzesried to the Rangiswanger Horn
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Very moderate...below the first steep step in the forest at a good 1300m there is very little base. According to reports from other tourers, the route towards Ochsenkopf is also very poor in snow, but good further up if the slopes are not blown clear. The summit slope towards Sigiswang, for example, is also great to ski at full throttle.
Snow quality
10-15 cm of fresh powder. Already slightly damp on the sunny side at midday today. Probably still good on the north side for the next few days.
Risks
Apart from a lot of wind, there were no anomalies on this tour (summit at a good 1600m).
Overall impression
Still very little snow for the time of year, but at least the current conditions are quite good.
