Snow condition

just right, from pp. below 800m there is not much to get, especially not in the forest. the meadows are deceptively white, but with every turn you push through. who knows where the stones are is at an advantage!!! above 1000m good. supporting base and on it about 15cm of fresh snow.

Snow quality

fresh pow and it lasts at these temperatures in all expos. really fluffy and fun!

i was at grünten today and i can say that everything is fine there. below 1000m there's not enough snow for avalanches anyway (no matter what type). above that, the fresh snow holds relatively well on the hard surface. in really steep terrain (>35°) you should watch out for drift snow deposits. i produced a few cracks in the snowpack on the descent there. but everything held.

Overall impression

i'll give it a 3 today, but a big one. first star for the great weather. layered clouds until about 1pm, then more and more sunny spells and lots of sun from 2pm onwards. that's also necessary. as soon as the wind (weak from the east today) joins in, it's extremely uncomfortable.
the 2nd is for the fluffy, fresh pow.
3rd for the good overall snow conditions and the free choice of lines above 1000m.
