Snow condition
Uija - the week was "tough" for the snow conditions - in the foothills of the Allgäu Alps, descents into the valley are only possible to a limited extent. In the side valleys of Oberstdorf it looks a lot better - on the north side the descents into the valley are no problem. South exposures up to 1500 meters snow-free. Closed snow cover from 1200 to 1500 meters. Above 1500 meters still enough snow
Snow quality
Pfirn the new type of snow is a few centimeters of powder and firn this type of snow was the trump card today. As in spring, the right time window is crucial for firn. The completeness on the north side above 1700 meters 2- 8 cm of powder on a hard to icy base. But the theme today was clearly "Pfirn/Firn"
Risks
Relaxed - everything that should be down has already gone. Spring conditions early on the mountain by midday at the latest in the valley
Overall impression
There's a lot going on in the side valleys - people flock to the Allgäu from everywhere. Early bird - in terms of snow / daytime warming, parking lots and of course best run.
Good to call yourself local and great day with tip top firn slopes
