Snow condition

from giebelhs. still very good. but this will change in the course of this week, then the last section from the upper valley will no longer be passable. the same already applies to the descent from gr. daumen (picture 7). there is nothing left before the egeratsgundalpe. otherwise there is still enough snow in the upper valley. you just have to take off your skis for a short time at the streams.

Snow quality

after a radiant night, the arrival was already quite frosty and the snow cover very well frozen.expo was perfect today. departure at 12.30h, after a relaxed lunch break at the summit. no race with the sun all day ;-). super firn from top to bottom. silky smooth and smooth to ride. once you leave this expo, however, it's immediately hard as a rock. i've rarely had such a homogeneous firn descent over such a distance. the conditions are probably particularly good on mondays!

absolutely safe today. wet snow was not an issue, and i didn't see any sliding snow anywhere. only the crossing under the cornices, just below the summit, picture 2, could be problematic when it gets really warm.

Overall impression

one star for the still good snow conditions.
the second for the very manageable crowds and the helicopter-free day.
the third for the suuuuuper weather.
the fourth for the suuuuuper firn (and a personal fifth, because there was another tick in the tour book today ;-)
