Snow report Oberstdorf, 03/06/2015
North-facing tour in Balderschwang
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Descent into the valley still possible, no brown patches on the north side and sufficient snow conditions. No ground contact. Between 3 and 4 stars.
Snow quality
Pappy to dry powder. Highly dependent on the terrain. The turns were quite varied, but never bad at the top. At the bottom in the afternoon, the snow was quite slow.
Risks
Level 2, no observations
Overall impression
Top runs in untracked snow, sun, not much going on. PS. Strange development: ski tourers are increasingly following the "interesting" tracks of snowshoe hikers. They prefer to go downhill with skins and then vertically uphill before making their own tracks... PPS. Today, for the first time, I saw a slope that was dug up more by snowshoers than skiers.
