Difficult situation in the West Allgäu
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Difficult, in the valleys it was still possible to ride on a minimal residual snow cover that was completely soaked. Today, the snow (rain) didn't want to bring any amounts together here. At 1200m there was already about 30cm of new snow, increasing with altitude depending on wind and exposure. Overall maybe 2 stars.
Snow quality
Difficult - Very compact snow, but easy to ski. However, far from breaking out into any dances of joy.
Risks
Difficult, no danger near the valley, not enough snow above 1200m, extremely difficult to judge, little visibility, lots of wind. A slope that I often ski on near the forest at approx. 1450m, just over 30 degrees, tore right through once. At another spot right next to the edge of a forest, the short slope went right behind me with the fresh snow. If it opens up tomorrow, I'll stay away from steeper and open slopes. It's a sharp three-pointer. The predicted strong warming doesn't bode well either.
Overall impression
Difficult conditions, I'm moderately enthusiastic. Sure it snowed all day, but there's no sign of it in the valley and it's hot at the top...and the quality was far from really good...
