Variations of snow cover

As has been the case all winter, it varies greatly depending on the exposure. NW you can still get down to 1000m off-piste on open areas.

Breakable crust
Firn
Jelly snow

It was always hazy today due to the Sahara dust. That's why even the eastern slopes were only skiable from midday onwards. You can't really find good firn in the area, as the old tracks make it very rough. With a bit of hiking, you can find good firn, which, as I said, was only soft enough from midday today that the pronounced rain grooves no longer bother you so much. Everything that the sun only caresses is not even thawed today. The pistes are largely gone by 10.

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
Diurnal warming

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Danger of falling and daily variation. With the warming, so much has come down that the old snow problem here on the edge of the Alps is probably only a problem in very isolated cases.

Overall impression

Equal

As I had forgotten my poles, it was just a day in the area with lots of hiking. For really great firn descents, where you can also do big turns, the rain gullies have to melt even more.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
