Snow report Oberstdorf, 03/07/2017
Ski tour from Gunzesried - Ochsenkopf and Rangiswanger Horn. Looks like winter again, but it was too warm.

Snow condition
The path towards Ochenskopf only has the fresh snow of the last few days, there seems to be no foundation there. On the lower slopes of the Rangiswanger Horn (both the northern route and the western slope) the subsoil came to light, and the same problem in the forest to the west below the Rangiswanger Horn. But it's not so bad, as the ground consists almost entirely of meadow. Apart from the places mentioned, you could ride without hesitation. On the whole, it went quite well today, but with the rain today I think that's over for now.
Snow quality
Actually fluffy fresh snow, approx. 20-25cm. But it got wet quite early, was still ok to ride but not a real treat.
Risks
Fresh snow was heavily packed, the snow remained very sharp-edged between the skis when making tracks. In somewhat steeper passages there were small superficial breaks in the snow cover. Signs of wind were also clearly visible, especially towards the Riedberger Horn. We therefore deliberately avoided steep sections today.
Overall impression
Nice wintry feeling, sunshine until almost 2 pm and nice runs, quite nice. More importantly: hopefully the snow of the last few days will extend the season a little in the higher altitudes
