some drift snow in the right half of the Hochgrat north face directly below the cornices on the flank. in the slope there was always supposed drift snow which turned out to be a mini sun crust. As I was going too fast it was difficult to see... further down I only realized that yesterday afternoon the sun was still shining into the north face. if we had descended later in the sunlight it might have become softer again, but that was too tricky for us with the avalanche activity for the purpose of warming up.
Overall impression
That went fast now. From excellent conditions in the north face yesterday to still passable but much less powdery conditions today. the strong sun yesterday destroyed a lot of things. only on the Seelekopf could you still catch some cold powder.
