Snow report Oberstdorf, 03/26/2014
WOW! 5 days and almost 5 stars
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
2-3 stars. 2 in the Bregenzerwald and Allgäu, 3 in north-eastern Switzerland.
Snow quality
TOP every day. Of course, no longer south/west/east-facing now. If you're lucky, you'll find a load-bearing top here, but it's more likely to be broken snow. But good in every exposure at the beginning of the week. Now there are still the north faces.
Risks
Very tense at the beginning of the week. Monday and Tuesday was a foursome in the Allgäu. But I couldn't quite confirm that. I didn't find it quite so critical. Now it's a 1/2, but it's going to get much warmer again over the next few days. It should become more critical again.
Overall impression
Sunday Bregenzerwald, Monday north-east Switzerland (ride up to the Rhine Valley possible at 600m), Tuesday Allgäu and today West Allgäu. If I hadn't had to skip yesterday I would have given it 5 stars. Man, what a week it was. Unbelievable that there was so much snow again on Saturday/Sunday. Unbelievable. Definitely the best days of the whole winter here in the north! The snow quality was/is really top! Photos are from today, I didn't get to stop the other days :) The problem is that it's probably been that way for a long time. It's now the end of March...
