Snow condition
If it wasn't April, but mid-May, the snow conditions would be perfectly fine. But the good thing about it is that you can (still) cycle right up to the snow on your MTB, and in the Bärgüntletal it went a little further today than up to the Pointhütte.
Snow quality
As already mentioned, today I had the feeling that winter wanted to make up for something before there was no more opportunity to do so. 5cm of fresh snow from about 1600m. The night was cold and the remaining clouds didn't clear until 10.30am, with a very strong and cool NW wind blowing. As a result, a supporting cover was formed, which held until the last turn on the descent at 12:30. Then a very creamy layer of powder in a northerly exposure. On the south side there was already slush by midday. I call this snow (which I've never experienced like this before) "pulfirn", which describes it pretty accurately
Risks
Very relaxed, thanks to the lid and the very manageable amount of fresh snow. But there have already been a few small loose snow slides.
Overall impression
As I said, a "flattering" day today. The snow, quantity, quality and weather were brilliant, and if it's like this again tomorrow, then it'll be fine...
