So now it's really over - and it's been a long time coming

Snow condition
From 1300m, the snow starts on the north side. So there is not enough time to go down. Walking or cycling is therefore the order of the day. There's still a surprising amount of snow further up, so if you're still in the mood for entertaining gullies, you can still have fun here at the weekend. From the Hochgrat mountain station you can set off directly with skins....
Snow quality
Best firn today between 9.30 and 12 o'clock east and then southwest! The most beautiful, even surface and 2-3 cm of the finest cream on top - super good.
Risks
Radiation conditions, but the warming is getting stronger and not everything is down yet. So get out in good time.
Overall impression
Today was definitely my last day here on the doorstep (I had already announced it over a month ago and then this April finale!), although it's really good from about 1400 m, but carrying it down is not such a hit... and especially as I remember last week, you could still ski all the way down into the valley until last Friday and that was at the end of April! But the absolute highlight was last Wednesday - I'll remember it for a long time, April 27th, Siberian cold and the best powder all the way down. Plus a descent at just before 9 pm under a steel-blue sky and an orange sunset over Lake Constance - just before that we were in a white snow roller - fantastic. Now it was time to head back into the Alps.
