After today was probably the last "winter day" for a long time and I really wanted to see how much fresh snow there was, 2nd attempt on the Rangiswanger Horn.very poor at the start (1,000m). Still only makes sense on a meadow surface, but from about 1400m there is enough snow for skiing, but without a base and quite blown. From approx. 1,500 m there is a hard surface on which there is approx. 30 cm of fresh snow. Still quite powdery in the forest.

Almost nothing at the bottom, then powdery on the grass, then powdery and windblown on the snow cover. It didn't thaw all afternoon. At the summit, light snowfall and strong westerly wind from 3.15 pm.

Risks

Very relaxed on the whole tour, along the limited ascent. There's not enough snow yet, not even in the steep areas, for larger snowboards. I didn't see any sliding snow slides either.

The tour is doable, but definitely not sensible or even recommended. With every turn there is a risk of hitting a stone or a root. With the predicted warming, that will probably be it again, up to medium altitudes.
I hope there won't be a "St. Martin's summer" now, comparable to the last two winters.
Ah yes, the last picture shows the place where the parking ticket machine will be located from now on. It was prepared today by building yard employees.
