Ski tour towards Alpgundkopf
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
In the valley, there is enough snow to start skiing directly from the parking lot. By the time you reach the Warmatsgund basin, the snow cover is around 50-60cm high. At the summit, I measured about 110 cm with the probe. You can currently reach the valley without coming into contact with stones, but you should still be rather defensive further down.
Snow quality
Really fine powder snow. In the Warmatsgund basin, however, it must have been around minus 15 degrees, and the sun hardly penetrates the basin. In total, there must have been around 40-50 cm of unbound powder snow.
Risks
According to the LLB, below 1800 m warning level 1, above that 2. The base has settled well in the meantime and there was an unbound fluffy layer of fresh snow above it. You should still be careful in the terrain close to the ridge, we deliberately left larger relief distances here during the ascent. On the west side, there were still some presumably older patches of sliding snow to be seen in some places.
Overall impression
Fantastic first ski tour of the season! Sunshine, 50cm of fresh snow and untracked terrain, it doesn't get much better than this. Only the long Latscher back could have been saved.
