Snow condition

There has been snow since yesterday, but - in my opinion - the base is still missing. Of course there is - visually - a lot of snow. The soft snow is all well and good, but it's always hard to get through. This is just as noticeable in the forest as it is on open areas that have been well beaten by the wind.

Snow quality

The very soft, perfect snow of the last few days has acquired an icy crust this evening. Temperatures have risen during the day. The skis don't get stuck but slide underneath. But the layer of ice slows you down on your shins and you can hardly make any progress. Strange. It was probably still great at lunchtime. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. (the two stars refer to the evening...)

No observations, flat slopes. The warning service has now issued level 4! I still wouldn't do anything major because of the upcoming track work. The amount of fresh snow is now really enormous in places and you need a certain inclination to make any progress at all. I would avoid steep slopes at the moment.

Overall impression

Nice end-of-year tour, but it could have been better. Still room for improvement! For my taste, the foundation is still missing. The rise in temperature in the coming days and the settling of the snow should help.
