Start at the parking lot of the ski jump. Walk about 40 minutes to the Fellhorn valley station. Unfortunately, the parking lots are closed here and the police drive around and arrest traffic offenders. So we took a detour, but there was just enough snow down to the lower altitudes to ski everything with skins. Snow conditions on the slopes ok... not enough in the forest to ski sensibly. Above the tree line it's very snowy. Even the smallest ridges are bare. Ascent towards Warmatsgund... caught a few stones on the descent.

In the hollows there is drift snow that is difficult to ski in. We hadn't expected such an extensive drift snow problem. We couldn't actually ski anything as it would have been too dangerous and not worth it. The best turns were just above the tree line in terrain that was about 30 degrees steep and where the wind couldn't reach.

Risks

Close to the ridge, in all gullies and hollows large snow packs, which are easy to recognize. Backs are bare. Defensive track selection is therefore not possible. For us, this meant abandoning the original plan and hoping for better conditions.

A tour in more moderate terrain would have been better for today.

In the Fellhorn area as well as Warmutsgund and Rossgundkopf (that's a lot of and's ) there is still a lack of snow for a sensible line choice... and above all without wind please! So it's not really worth undertaking longer tours at the moment.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
