Frühjahr und Firn am Nebelhorn

Overall impression
Snow condition
Valley descent possible without stone contact. Almost all branches, grass and stones are still covered.
Snow quality
In the morning all exposures were still rock hard. From midday onwards, the south-east slopes slowly started to firn up and later the south and west slopes were really nice to ski. Even on the steeper slopes there was a stable top with nice firn on top. In places it was soaked in the afternoon.
Risks
I found the avalanche situation to be relaxed. At least where it was easy to ski. It's probably more tense on steep south-facing slopes. There were small pockets of sliding snow on west-facing slopes. There were hardly any fresh drifts. When there was, it was on the north side in the steep terrain under the ridge.
Overall impression
Fun day. You can ride good lines even after the rain. The crowds were very manageable and the visibility was phenomenal apart from a few local patches of fog.
