Splitboard-Tour bei bestem Wetter und etwas weniger angespannter Lawinensituation auf die große Kesselspitze bei Obertauern.

Snow condition
The snow conditions are quite varied due to the heavy load caused by the strong wind - especially on the northern sides in the upper area, drift snow has accumulated in all exposures, and not only in the usual places such as behind terrain edges.
Snow quality
Due to yesterday's warming temperatures, the snow has already started to change noticeably. We no longer found fluffy, cold powder like 2 days ago in Obertauern, but slightly damp, slightly heavier snow. Very good to ski, but caution is advised due to the changeable conditions.
Risks
Today, the LLB issued a level 3 warning for the region, although the danger may have weakened a little compared to yesterday. The wind has weakened somewhat since yesterday and temperatures have risen. This means that the fresh snow has started to transform and bind better. Nevertheless, the situation is still fairly critical. The second picture shows a spontaneous avalanche on a steep (> 40 degrees) south-facing slope of the Sichelwand, which probably started yesterday. The estimated height of the crack is 20 cm, relatively wide.
Overall impression
We had a great day of touring with a super descent, with good snow on the entire route.
