Snow condition

1 von 5 Sterne

The snow conditions have improved considerably since my last visit about 2 weeks ago, but still don't deserve more than one star for this time of year. it's starting to look wintry and the snow at the top in particular could serve as a base for the upcoming millennium winter. The descent in the terrain from about 2200m was really good, but you have to ski with the handbrake on and the lurking sharks in the back of your mind. If you choose your line carefully, you can avoid the roughest rock contacts above 2000m. It was rather difficult to describe the thickness of the snow cover in figures today, because there are big differences depending on the exposure and altitude.

The snow quality was fantastic today. Around 10 cm fell overnight. A bit windy but still cold and fluffy. All in all, you could ski down to about 20-30 cm of powder. At least at the top. If it hadn't been for the rocks, it would have been really cool!

Risks

One should not be deceived by the current mild assessment of the LWD. The assessment is certainly correct (simply because no major avalanches can be triggered yet), but the situation is somewhat tense in places. On the ascent, there were clear booming noises and on the descent there were cracks about 4-5 meters away from me. You won't be buried by something like that, but it's quite possible that you'll be swept along in the steep terrain and pulled over the next sharks. you can see drifts near the ridge and in gullies, especially in the O-S exposures.

Actually the best day so far. Hopefully there will be more soon!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
