Snow report Obertauern, 11/16/2016
Obertauern is already open too! The number of open pistes and lifts is really impressive! But if the predicted warm temperatures actually arrive, it's not going to be great!

Snow condition
Yes, it's white! But it's not much. There is about 10 - 30 cm of snow on the terrain. Even on the slopes there's a bit of brown showing through from time to time. With the coming warm spell, some of it will probably melt away again, but there's definitely NOTHING off-piste!
Snow quality
At 09:30 it was 3 degrees in Otown today. The slopes were hard in places, but became softer and softer as the day progressed. But thank goodness it didn't get really deep. Few people and no bumps, so it was ideal for carving!
Risks
Even though there is almost no snow, as described above, I would like to say a few words here: Ground avalanches could actually be observed in all expos. The base is therefore anything but good (it has snowed cold snow on warm ground) and maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it all cleared away again and with a bit of luck we could be spared the "weak layer close to the ground" this season...
Overall impression
It's great that you can finally ski on more than just the Kitz! Variety is a must
