Off und Onpiste in Otown
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Just under 3 stars because it looks really good in Obetauern. Down into the valley it is deep winter with a continuous blanket of snow. Only some of the ridges are a little blown off. At the top, it's easy to ski off-piste with your eyes open! The base for the next snowfall is good!
Snow quality
Very different. At the top, on shady slopes, there is good powder that is pleasant to ski. Further down and on sunny slopes, the snow is quite nasty and usually breaks. Softening in the afternoon but the steep slopes (on the sunny side) are covered with nodules
Risks
You can tell that the wind was at work. Close to the ridge and especially where the sun didn't reach and the snow cover is not yet so well settled, you should watch out for drift snow. further down and on sunny, steep slopes, the snow cover is obviously soaked. We were able to make out some large snow mouths and also some sliding snow chutes.
Overall impression
Very fine! The range of lifts is already very good! Skiers are seldom seen, you practically greet each other when you see each other. The weather was more than good and so a great day's skiing comes to an end. I'm already looking forward to the fresh snow that will hopefully come this weekend!
