Variations of snow cover

OK for the time of year at altitude, below 2,500 m very below average. Even higher up, you should always keep potential rocks in mind.

Snow quality

Breakable crust
Wet snow
Firn
Powder snow
Jelly snow

Still really good, set powder on wind-protected north-facing slopes. A little windblown in places, but on the whole very good. Good firn on the south side with good timing, although you have to be early here.

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
Diurnal warming

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

The danger mostly comes from the warming during the day and the risk of falling on the hard snow surface. Drifting snow was rather rare and small-scale.

Worse

Beautiful first day on our Ötztal crossing. The descent from Eiskögele to Langtalereckhütte is easy and offers powder snow on the first 400 meters. Below that it is firny and easy to ski.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
