Snow condition
The snow conditions are still great, the total of 40 cm from the last few days has settled.
Snow quality
Due to the strong winds, the ridge area has been blown off and the snow cover is partially compacted. Fresh powder could still be found in areas sheltered from the wind. This is already fluffy and fantastic to ski.
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
Due to the wind load, the upper 5 cm of fresh snow was prone to disruption on some slopes when entering the lee. On steep south-facing slopes, small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches were released and occasionally there were sliding snow cracks in all exposures with the exception of the north.
Avalanche activity
Gliding avalanche (small)
Altitude: 2600 m
A medium-sized sliding snow avalanche has come loose overnight in steep south-eastern terrain
Overall impression
Another great day at the Ovit Tunnel. The choice of slope was somewhat limited due to the wind. Nevertheless, with a little caution, great turns were still possible in the sunshine and powder snow. Due to the warmer temperatures this week, the avalanche risk will probably increase and the conditions will get a little worse.
