Snow condition
There is still enough snow to ski down into the valley without any problems. However, the larger stones become more and more visible and you have to look for your way. From around 2500 meters, there is a good blanket of snow. But there could be a lot more. Most of the crevasses on the glacier are closed. Occasionally, however, you can see the snow bridges slowly opening up.
Snow quality
As already suspected before the tour, the snow quality is rather poor. From Vent up to approx. 2600m it was pure crushed snow. In the terrain within the ski area, you could see many slabs with a cover of approx. 5 cm thick. Further up, the snow quality slowly improved. Where the sun didn't have too much influence, the snow was still a bit powdery, but on the glacier the snow was completely crusty and pressed by the wind.
Risks
According to the LLB warning level 2 / 3, the snow cover made a stable impression. Only in the ski area and on very steep, sunny slopes were individual small slides visible.
Overall impression
Despite the rather poor snow quality, it was a very nice tour. There was very little going on in the winter room of the Breslauer Hütte and we were completely alone on the way to the Wildspitze. As soon as we had passed the Mitterkarjoch and were standing on the Taschachferner, we saw whole crowds of people climbing up from the Pitztal. Some of the mountain guides dragging everything up there were really sick. From snowboarders in snowboard boots without crampons etc.
