In the Pitztal ski area, the snow conditions are rather below average for the season. This is likely to have changed with the snowfall that began yesterday. The snow conditions in the high Alps are not quite as bad. Many crevasses are already closed or have more or less thin snow bridges.

Powder snow

The snow cover on the Taschachferner was very changeable, most of it was wind-affected and compacted old snow that was easy to ski on when the sun was shining. In some places protected from the wind it was still powdery.

Risks

South

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Risk of crevasse falls and, with the fresh snow, sharks are currently the main danger. Old snow slab in the lower half of the Brochkogel north face The amounts of fresh snow over the next few days will fall on a snow cover that is strongly influenced by the wind. I was unable to recognize any accumulating transformation. On the north side in the steep terrain, however, this could well be possible. I would avoid these areas for the next few days.

We took advantage of the good weather window before the fresh snow and scouted a few projects for the coming season.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
