Piste day in the Pitztal
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Not exhilarating for this altitude, but quite usable. The slopes were all good to ride, off-piste would also have been possible (see report #37 by spitz), but I didn't do it because everything was already rutted and...
Snow quality
...the quality wasn't particularly good either because there was a wind cover on it. Pretty good for skiing on the slopes though, nice and soft, at least in the mornings.
Risks
Beware of drift snow. On the front Brunnenkogel you could see an avalanche edge on the north face, but the avalanche itself was quite small. On the Wildspitze, 3 climbers were swept about 100m up the north face by an avalanche today, but fortunately no one was buried. Only one injured his knee. I'm guessing it was caused by drifting snow.
Overall impression
There wasn't really anything off-piste, but the slopes were good and so was the weather.
