Hinterer Brochkogel
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
There is not enough snow for skiing outside the glaciers. Smaller crevasses have almost been blown over but caution is advised. However, many crevasses are still open. The north-facing ice walls, on the other hand, are very well covered with snow. There are hardly any bare patches. There is 15 cm of fresh snow on the glaciers.
Snow quality
Nice cold powder on the glaciers and in the Brochkogel north face, only a short section in the upper part of the wall was a bit windy.
Risks
Attention should be paid to snow packs, but these are easily recognizable and small. Overall favorable conditions today. However, the avalanche situation will worsen with the coming snowfall as the current snow will form a perfect weak layer.
Overall impression
Superb conditions for climbing the north face of the Brochkogel. However, the ice nose no longer exists. There was 15 cm of fluffy powder on the wall today. Compact snow cover underneath. Ideal for ascending and descending. Only the upper part of the wall was slightly wind-affected. Hardly any wind, sun and in the company of the best condition reporter and thirteen-time climber of the Schaufelspitz north face. What more could you want?
