Up high, down low. From around 2000 m there is an above-average amount of snow. The ridges and crests in particular are unusually well snowed in, the higher the better (2500 m: 2-3 m). For this alone I would give it 4 stars. But then there is the (considerable) part in the Valle du Galbe

Snow quality

Despite my rose-colored Pyrenean glasses, I can only choose to award one star here. Except for the top 50 m from the summit to the bottom, which were covered in sugar, it was the finest concrete snow, garnished with a 2 cm crust of sleet from yesterday. If only it had stayed warm... Fun factor so very limited and unfortunately no improvement in sight. So we'll either have to go higher (Puigmal) or switch to south-facing slopes.

Risks

According to the LLB, it's a 2 that I would carry. Actually, everything is completely frozen thanks to the significant cooling. In steep, low-lying south-facing slopes, everything is still coming off thanks to the sun. On the north-facing slopes there are many cracks, probably from last week.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

Really only two stars due to the modest snow quality. Because of the magnificent landscape and the "grand bleu" of this classic tour in the eastern Pyrenees, it's just enough for 3 stars.
