Snow report Pyrenees Orientales, 02/27/2014

Here we go again, I will be reporting regularly from Les Angles in the Eastern Pyrenees until the end of April. Anyone who read my reports at Christmas knows that the basis is pretty good. Since then, most of the snow has melted again down on 1500

At 2000m there is 1.5-2m, below that it quickly becomes less and at 1400 there is virtually nothing left. But that doesn't matter, the relevant areas are all around and above the tree line, i.e. above 2000m.

Yesterday was still very heavy because it was too warm (+1C at 1700m). With the recent snowfall, which started shortly after midday, the temperature has dropped significantly (-4C) and the snow is now nice and fluffy even down here.

Risks

As I haven't been out much and visibility is zero, I don't want to say much about it. According to MeteoFrance it's a 3, the recent snowfall and the wind, which can reach a good 100km/h in gusts, certainly won't help to ease the situation. Drifting snow ahoy!

A great start! The peach trees are blossoming in the Mediterranean, up here in the Capcir it was still changeable at first but now the snow has prevailed. Let's see how much we get by tomorrow, with a bit of luck and a little less wind the Powrenees could live up to their name:)o

Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
