Snow condition

Still very good snow conditions, in the Vallee de la Galbe 2-4 meters of snow in places. Backside blown off, everything down to the valley easily skiable, thanks to the extreme cold (-15 degrees this morning at the start) and a very icy wind.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

From powder on the north-facing slopes, to hardpack where the sun shines, to slush below 1800 m, everything was there. As the descent was mostly powdery, it was a lot of fun.

Risks

A triple according to Meteofrance. Steep W-N-E slopes are overgrown, the sunlight during the day is also not to be sneezed at. A wet snow avalanche is already blocking the way in the Vallee de la Galbe.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

Probably one of the most scenic tours in the region. Lots of downhill options in the Vallee de la Galbe with 500-900m of climbing. The snow was still very good today with powder on the northern slopes up to around 1900m. Unbelievably cold and uncomfortable at 2600 m despite the bright blue sky.
