Firn-Cruisen in Puyvalador
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Still excellent for the end of December. Yesterday and today the snow cover has collapsed quite well due to the warm temperatures, but still 50-100 cm at 1600 m and 150 cm at 2400 m. Towards Comporeills it looks like a lot more. Back and ridges free of snow due to the strong wind.
Snow quality
Great creamy firn on the sunny slopes, inviting for relaxed cruising.
Risks
Still a 3, in Porte Puymorens there was a big avalanche yesterday and several people were buried. I would avoid steep terrain completely, the snow cover is heavy and the wind is blowing without end
Overall impression
Really nice cruiser with 10 degrees and sunshine. There's also more than enough snow, what more could you want?
