More than enough snow on the glacier but also in the area of the valley station. Crevasses are virtually unrecognizable.
Snow quality
The wind and the warm temperatures did their work. The snow on the glacier was wind-pressed but still quite ok to ski. Very warm even at almost 3000m.
Risks
Pretty tense. Although with the improving visibility some groups headed towards the edge of the crevasse, I didn't bother. Massive drift snow and still partly strong winds were too borderline for me. I limited myself to the flat slopes of the Hallstatt glacier.
Overall impression
We waited 2 hours in the white out, then it finally opened up. The wind was still very strong in places. The magnificent, snow-covered landscape made up for the poor snow quality. Super New Year's Eve tour.
