Snow condition
Today we did a more or less pure north-facing ski tour. Despite a low start, it was possible to ski down to the car without any problems. The wind almost completely cleared the snow from exposed areas.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, the wind was working hard and instead of powder snow, we often encountered wind cover and drifting snow today. The snow was only still powdery and good in corners that were absolutely protected from the wind.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
On the ascent, we could see snow plumes on the highest peaks. Accumulations of drift snow near the crest at gully entrances were already well connected to the old snow cover (a snow profile on the ascent confirmed this). Accumulations of drift snow were clearly visible.
Overall impression
Unfortunately, we didn't get the powder snow we had hoped for in the gullies. However, we were compensated with the best weather and the 3rd star goes to the beautiful landscape.
