Snow condition

Similar to the northern Salzburger Land: mostly poor at the bottom and on the south side. Really good in the shaded, wind-calm middle areas, with some thick snow banks.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

Amazingly good! Above 1400m a few centimeters of fresh snow or nice and slushy sleet, underneath grippy old snow. Towards the bottom it gets deeper and a bit tougher, but still good, unfortunately a bit slow at the bottom due to the warmth.

Risks

Moderate to light, the snow became deeply moist in the lower areas but was still compact and no fresh snow was visible.

Overall impression

Very nice, albeit shorter tour in the Gosau area. With warm temperatures and a foehn wind, the weather was different than expected, but the visibility was fine.
Really fine snow in great forest terrain. The compact but deep snow consistency made hopping around really good.
The main protagonist in our ranks also did the Gnar Game really well and the style factor was high... ;)
