Snow condition

Due to the heavy snowfall in January, there is a lot to be gained on the border between Salzburg and Tyrol. In some cases, routes are possible that were not accessible or only accessible with difficulty in previous years due to a lack of snow

Snow quality

Ullr's südstau brought more snow than expected and there was some very fresh and deep powder snow. However, you should be at higher altitudes, as the snow in the valley became very heavy and sometimes turned into rain

Risks

In general, the snow cover is very settled and only the new layer of snow seemed unstable. There were many sluff releases in the tree line and you have to be very careful, especially in areas exposed to the wind (releases partly due to low additional load contrary to the situation report) The poor visibility also made it difficult to ski free terrain and the tree line was the place-to-be

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

Surprisingly very good day if you know your routes. The poor visibility and snowfall led to restrictions, but the conditions for powder skiing were still good. The journey (even for just one day) was definitely worth it

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
