Snow report Saalbach / Fieberbrunn, 02/04/2016
Skiing in Fieberbrunn (900-1800m, all exposures) - not bad!
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Better than expected (if you had the snow destruction at the beginning of the week in mind)! Up to 50 cm of fresh snow has been added over the last two days and has also fallen to a usable base at higher altitudes. We were mainly out and about between 1200 - 1800m, where there was very little ground contact.
Snow quality
Unfortunately not quite as good as expected. In the upper half, the powder was slightly settled and sometimes a little windy, which became increasingly damp as the day progressed. All in all, however, it was still a lot of fun to ski!
Risks
As we were only below 1800m and only in moderately steep terrain, the danger was limited. In general, however, you should watch out for accumulations of drift snow and tomorrow probably also for the daytime warming
Overall impression
Very nice freeride day in Fieberbrunn with some great descents, even if most of it was already chopped up by midday. The visibility got better and better as the day went on. Unfortunately, the Hochhörndl 4-seater chair wasn't open today (but according to the lift people it will be tomorrow), which meant that a few options were not available. There could be some nice untracked (north-facing) stuff to get tomorrow.
