Snow condition
There is snow there. Not a lot in the middle of winter. But with crevasse scanners and shark management, you can get out between the slopes. The coming snowfall will make the valley descent skiable without a hiking interval.
Snow quality
Above all, the snow is cold, which makes it quite dull above 3500, and below 2800 even artificial snow is mixed into the terrain due to the drifting. But you can still find a dusty spot here and there.
Risks
Difficult to assess in the terrain, as the snow cover is mostly load-bearing. A small avalanche broke off at the edge of the glacier below Allalin sometime this week.
Overall impression
Good. At some point, we skied the small sections with a little more courage. The more active skiing in the terrain revitalizes the frozen joints. You reactivate your feeling for technique in steeper passages and your sense of position in changing snow conditions. On the piste, speed and recoveries are on the agenda due to a lack of edge hold as the skis would also need preparation. And you also have to get used to the cold wind again. With a warming fire in the fireplace, it's a pretty complete half-day of skiing.
