Snow report Salzburger Land North, 01/05/2017
Forest tours in icy temperatures in the Salzburg Northern Alps. Best day so far!

Snow condition
The nordstau has now created a solid base. In reasonably sheltered forest areas, you can hardly get through any more and the driving style is slowly but surely becoming more aggressive. The amount of fresh snow is difficult to judge with the influence of the wind, I would say around 60 cm on average. We were mainly traveling in the northern exposure.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, there was a bit of wind and the snow wasn't quite as fluffy as yesterday. But that's complaining on a very high level and not quite enough for 5 stars. However, the pictures speak for themselves.
Risks
During the ascent and at the end of the tour, we could hear "booming noises" in relatively moderate terrain (< 30°). Otherwise we could not detect any activity. At the tree line, cornices were clearly visible. Keep your eyes open, the drift snow accumulations are still clearly visible.
Overall impression
Best day so far. We were out on our own today and had a visit from friends from Innsbruck, plus great snow and the weather was halfway perfect. It can go on like this!
