Snow report Salzburger Land North, 01/26/2021

Snow condition

Overall impression
Snow condition
Still below average. But the dump from yesterday to today was nice and has significantly improved the conditions. The lower forest areas are unfortunately still not skiable, but you can get down into the valley on forest tracks, etc. The higher areas look bad and blown out. The higher elevations look bad and blown out. As is so often the case, it was best in light, high-altitude larch forests.
Snow quality
Very good. The powder is a bit dull due to the strong wind, but great to ride. From about 1200m onwards, there is more and more snow underneath and of course branches, etc.
Risks
Relatively manageable in the forest despite the wind. The loads are not as massive there, the terrain is still very rough and where there was old snow underneath at all, it is very inhomogeneous. The closer you get to the tree line, the more critical it becomes, but even there the terrain is still very rough and structured. The 3 is certainly justified at the top.
Overall impression
Very nice day in the woods on the north side of the Watzmann.
Unfortunately the wind was a bit fierce, but finally some real tours in the region.
The "half" tracks (the two in front of me went with such small plates that only one of my skis fitted into their tracks) were still strenuous enough.
I'm curious to see how things will continue, at the moment it's snowing again... :)
