Poor visibility, but fine snow in Pillowwonderland...

Snow condition
In the Berchtesgaden basin, you have to carry your skis everywhere from the valleys - as has been the case all winter. More or less depending on the starting point. You can ski down to about 1000-1100m on the north side, depending on the ground, and from about 1500m on the snow side there is a big break - you can suddenly find pillow layers 1-2m thick...
Snow quality
Pretty good! A dust-dry layer of powder lies on top of the partly soft, partly hard layer of old snow. The powder increases towards the top, but never gets thicker than about 20-25 cm. Above the tree line there is already a slight wind cover, but it is still easy to ski.
Risks
Relatively stable. At the bottom anyway, the old snow cover is very compact and firm. The fluffy powder, which has been wonderfully preserved by the cold, is completely unbound in the middle layers. There is also a lot of frost on open areas at lower altitudes. In the higher elevations there was certainly a little bit of snow drifting, but not very much.
Overall impression
4 (somewhat subjective) *, because the terrain is so great, it was untracked and I thought the snow was fantastic. It's a shame that you have to carry a good 250 m, but nothing new here.
I also had to make tracks, but that went quite well thanks to the super light powder.
Unfortunately, the visibility was really poor above the tree line...
