Puderwahn & Winterfeeling
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Really good at the top. On the roofs of the huts at about 1500m there is about 1.20m. At the top, well over 2m, but unfortunately very poor at the bottom. We couldn't drive out of a really great variant over a deep ditch.
Snow quality
Mega at the top. About 20-30cm of the finest, light, cold powder. The old snow cover also comes through at the top, but is hardly a problem. Towards the bottom, of course, the powder layer becomes thinner and the hardpack more noticeable. But all in all great!
Risks
Low. The old snow cover is very compact and the fluffy powder lies unbound on top. We were only just above the tree line, so we couldn't see any drifts and there was no wind. But sluff management is definitely an issue! It comes off quickly and is easy to get a lot of!
Overall impression
Great day in the Watzmann area.
Very little going on, great snow and a great winter feeling.
But no visibility above the tree line.
Unfortunately, there is very little snow at lower altitudes and so we couldn't ski a forgotten variant into the valley through an actually magnificent ditch. It's crazy that last year (!) it went very well! A colleague also tore out the edge...
