The drama is well known, there's no need to say anything about it, but the good news is that above 1600m the snow conditions have only got slightly worse, despite the sad season so far, and below that you can only slide a little deeper on open, snow-covered forest paths or flat meadows if you're lucky. Forest skiing is only possible at the very top and in the very light.

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne

Once again very varied, a challenging but okay mixture of: a small powder layer on harsch and real broken harsch, a small piece of firn on the east side below about 1700m, very wet on the south side at noon, dust on crust on the north side (the last few meters of forest road were actually quite cool and fast to ride), as well as lots of rocks and stones, forest floor and rock-hard avalanche bumps.

Risks

The LLB says a one everywhere, but there's not much in the higher elevations, but you can see how the wind has transported the snow, and there were two older, huge wet snow avalanches, some of them about 200m long, in the cirque that narrows a bit towards the middle. I'm guessing that they came down during the warm spell last week. Overall, however, there is simply very little snow and/or it has already gone.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

A beautiful and somewhat adventurous tour with biking, carrying, bushwacking, a gigantic avalanche field, easy climbing, steep trudging, fantastic and sad views, pretty funky snow and a fantastic ambience.
However, the third star is somewhat subjective and is due to the new line at my favorite playground.
