The snow conditions in the wind-protected reservoir area are still excellent. The snow conditions have never been as good as they are now. Today's pitch was once again a north-facing forest.

Snow quality

Still really good on the north side. Approx. 20 cm+ deep, settled snow and no penetration on a hard surface. Very pleasant to ride. As soon as the sun came into play, the snow became damp. The temperatures felt very much like spring from midday onwards. In the early afternoon, we made a short descent to the west, where the snow was already damp and heavier. On the south side, the snow was slushy and there was a risk of stopping (we were only a few vertical meters down). Tomorrow it will probably be difficult to find good snow.

Risks

Quite relaxed for us. Accumulations of drift snow at entrances at the tree line (transition from a little to a lot of snow) were very easy to see and could be avoided. Over the course of the day, we were able to see numerous small slides from steep, sunny terrain. You should keep an eye out for snow mouths again in these temperatures.

Overall impression

Much better than expected. The weather was also very good. Interestingly, or rather frighteningly, we were able to observe two touring groups today, who skied/plunged down quite steep forest tracks together with manageable skiing skills. Cobbler stick to your last is all I can say.
