Overall impression
Snow condition
The north side looks really good. Enemy contact more or less ruled out. Actually 4 stars. But since it only looks very good on the north side, we only give it 3 stars. Compared to many other tours in the Northern Alps, this tour has a clear advantage in terms of snow conditions throughout the winter. Amount of fresh snow: Around 10 cm at around 900 m and increasing sharply with altitude. At approx. 2000 m between 30-40 cm.
Snow quality
Very fine! There were face shots on almost every turn. The fresh snow was not quite as cold as at the turn of the year and not quite as deep, so only 4 stars. We were sheltered from the wind on the descent, so there was virtually no wind influence on the descent.
Risks
We were only out and about in the forest. Above the tree line, the wind was blowing hard and was blowing well. We were defensive in the sheltered forest. You should pay attention to sluff management. In the forest, the snowpack was quite solid. I would consider the situation above the tree line to be quite critical. Watch out!
Overall impression
Another fine nordstau touring day!
