Never change a running system, tours in the forest

Overall impression
Snow condition
In the sheltered north-facing forest, the base is in full order. Today we found about 20 cm of settled powder lying on a soft base. In other exposures, especially south and west, the situation doesn't look particularly good. I think that it can slowly but surely get tight below 1400m. Today's assessment concerns protected north faces.
Snow quality
The powder on the sheltered north sides was very good to ski. There was no wind and no cover. However, the snow became wetter over the course of the day due to the high temperatures. In other exposures, the situation looked quite different again. In the south and west there was deep snow in the afternoon (fortunately it was only a few meters).
Risks
Quite relaxed on our tour today. From later in the morning, we kept hearing avalanche activity from steep southern exposures. Some of these sounded quite large. In the north-facing forest, there were also some wet snow slides due to the last big rise in temperature including rain. You can also find the odd fish mouth in the forest. The wind picked up during the course of the day and has blown a lot of snow onto the peaks.
Overall impression
Not a crazy day, but we still found solid powder in sunny weather. However, powder replenishment is urgently needed in order to be able to do something in a month's time apart from the northern sector.
