Snow report Salzburger Land North, 03/13/2015
Beautiful ski touring day in Berchtesgaden with good snow in a north-facing cirque

Snow condition
Still ok, at least in the typical snow holes. Downhill runs on the north side of the valley still possible up to below 1000m above sea level. Overall, however, rather moderate, I caught a nasty cut today...
Snow quality
Above 1400m it was great today. Well set, but the upper layer was very light in places. Should have gone for the fat slats today... Down in the forest on the trails, ice and crushed snow.
Risks
Uncritical. Very compact and firm. The small amount of fresh snow from last week is well bonded. At lower elevations, everything is icy and covered. I haven't been able to detect any drift snow. On the south side, with increasing temperatures tomorrow, sliding snow may be an issue.
Overall impression
Very nice day, especially compared to yesterday. Great weather, great snow, no people - perfect.
