Exposition
Snow condition
Still bad and below average, but a positive change since just under a week has to be acknowledged. Last Friday about 20 cm, Monday 10 cm and last night and today another 20 - without settling, of course. Above 1600 m on the snow side it's ok, below that you have to pay close attention to the ground. Down into the valley, it's as good as nowhere.
Snow quality
Just under four stars. That was really good. Unfortunately I wasn't quite high enough, but in wind-calm areas on the shaded side it's also really great between 1500 and 1700 meters. The fresh snow from today is super flowy, sometimes deep and runs nicely. In areas exposed to the wind and at lower altitudes, a hard layer of old snow unfortunately comes through. Further up and sheltered from the wind, however, it's great. Watch out for sharks and obstacles!
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
The Bavarian LLB sees only one 1 in the Berchtesgaden Alps at all levels. I wouldn't quite see it that way. They have obviously underestimated the amount of snow and the constant wind in the ridges has certainly transported a lot. In areas exposed to the wind, even at medium altitudes. Sluff moves quickly and significantly on steep slopes and should be taken into account in some areas. Hard obstacles with insufficient snow cover are also dangerous.
Overall impression
Just under 4 stars. It looks like winter again, but unfortunately the amount is still very below average. The snow - where there is enough - is really great. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go to the absolute top locations due to time constraints. You also have to be really careful: I got stuck on an alpine fence today and was pretty lucky. It was nice that the visibility got a bit better just in time for the descent, otherwise it snowed the whole day. I'm sure it'll still be really good tomorrow if you're calm and high up in the trees. I'm looking forward to next week.
