Snow condition
As Bergjunge has often described, it varies greatly depending on the expo and altitude (between 1 and 4 stars). But from medium altitudes (except south) there is still more than enough snow. If summer doesn't strike in April like last year, we're guaranteed a long season.
Snow quality
Everything that sees the sun is hard in the morning and sometimes really icy. In the forest below 1200m it didn't radiate and the surface was soft. On the N/NE side, however, it was really nice powder, sometimes slightly wind-treated, but very predictable and great to ski.
Risks
very relaxed. Everything is well set and connected, the big things from sunlit slopes are down, but due to the high temperatures, the daytime course is definitely to be observed.
Overall impression
For more than 20 years, the Göll Ost has been on my mind, sometimes more, sometimes less. On Saturday, the time had come. After a thorough study of the east face of Roßfeld, the current reports of cornice breaks from the west with the massive summit cornice on the Göll (thanks Marius for your post on this, it was taken into account in our decision) and the exciting route finding into the Freithof from Eckersattel, we decided to take the normal route up the Göll from Hinterbrand (start 5am) via the Alpetal. Descent to Weissenbach. Entry directly into the chimney, not from the Kuchler Kreuz, simply because it looked perfect and that's not always the case from there.
In summary, one of my personal highlights as a skier, especially because the Göll Ost was in my head for so long. It's not super hardcore, but also not to be underestimated (entry 50+ degrees), but the overall experience is absolutely awesome.
In this case, it's my personal 5*, but I think I would have awarded it even without this background, because there are simply no better conditions for such a descent.
